Biography: Dr. U. Hartmann Vice President for Strategy and Policy of Saarland University, since 1985 research in solid state physics and biophysics, strong focus on nanotechnology, supervision of several diploma, PhD and habilitation projects, organization of several conferences, more than 300 publications, four text books, numerous invited talks, several patents, cofounder of three companies, member of the advisory boards of several institutions and companies, founder of the biggest european network in nanobiotechnology, cofounder of the german association of nanotechnology. Some of his his main achievements and awards: Diploma and PhD with honors, severals awards for best contributions at conferences, many invitations from abroad, Philip Morris price 1998, honorary professor of Fudan University and East China Normal University, Federal Cross of Merrit 2015. Other contributions: Manyfold activities in the university administration and as reviewer for scientific associations worldwide.
